On this day in 1912 Argentina played first-class cricket for the first time against the MCC. The national team played a three match series against the visiting MCC, winning the first game, but losing the second and third games. The sport was first introduced to Argentina by British immigrants, and Argentina played its first international cricket match in 1868, against Uruguay. Fixtures against Brazil ad Chile followed, and in 1912, regular visits began to be made by English teams, including the MCC. For its first match against Chile, the Argentinian team had to travel to Santiago by crossing the Andes by mule, which took three and a half days.
